Art & Nature: this is a full day excursion to the Porcelain Manufactury of Herend and the area around Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central-Europe, on which we offer you a unique experience of beauty, art and nature.
Herend and Lake Balaton
Departing from your hotel, the first stop is the world famous Porcelain Factory at Herend, where they have been producing exquisite china, reminiscent of Meissen, since 1826. You will be shown a demonstration of the process, which uses traditional methods of manufacture, and there is a museum and shop, after which you can enjoy coffee and cake!
The second stop is at Veszprem, the ’Northern capital’ of Balaton, with an impressive Castle, and the beautiful Basilica of St Michael on Castle Hill.
Herend and Lake Balaton
The third stop is Balatonfured, a delightful resort and spa on Hungary’s largest lake. There is also a Park of Celebrities, with statues of poets, politicians and scientists. We visit:
- Old Hospital
- 19th Century Old Town
- Harbor
- Round Church
- Kossuth Spring
- The Park of Celebrities.
The fourth stop is Tihany, on the peninsula. After a visit to the 11th century Abbey, and enjoying the magnificent views of the lake, we leave by a ferry crossing the lake.
The tour, which covers some 160 miles, takes about 9 hours, after which you will be dropped off at your hotel or any other place you wish.
The route order can vary, as it depends on the appointment booked at the Herend Manufactury.
